You might be able to send them the file you have (locked) and then they unlock it in the Accesstuner software and program it for your new Accessport serial number and send it back to you. There is a good chance that tunes are locked to the serial number of the Accessport they were originally made for. I haven't looked into it but from what I recall, you need some sort of training on the software to use it too.
You need to know what you're doing, obviously, or you can blow it up. The custom tune is done on a computer using software supplied by Cobb.įiles are made by dynoing the car or doing a road tune and adjusting tiny increments by % points to get the car running smoothly. Your car sounds like it is beyond the parameters of a basic Cobb tune, so yes, you need the custom tune. There is also a Stage 2+ on some cars that includes a list of certain parts on Cobb's website beyond a regular stage 2.īeyond that is a 'pro tune' inlet, headers, injectors, turbos, tcv and egr deletes, etc. Again, exhaust doesn't matter either way. Stage 2 is downpipe, or Stage 2 with an intake is a thing too. Stage 1 is stock, exhaust doesn't matter. and the parameters on the tune change accordingly, because every car is different, every injector flows slightly differently, ever inlet is different, etc. It's not a tuning gadget where you just check boxes for injectors, inlet, down pipe, turbo, etc. Lots of OBD tuners for other cars can't read out monitors or switch between tunes so easily. It's fancy in that it can program the car's ECU using those tune files and is one of the most flexible and useful versions of that. this thing is talked about like some fancy tuning gadget and it seems to me that all it does is upload files.Īll it does is store files from the computer, upload files onto the car, and read monitors in the car, and it can log run files of those monitors as well. So would TurnInConcepts be able to unlock this tune somehow and email it to me to re-upload to my new AP?Īnd also, everyone talks about the stage 2 maps, but I only get the option of stage 1 maps to upload and nowhere in the AP does it let me adjust injector size. I already downloaded AP manager and pulled the tune from the old AP and put it in the new AP but the file says its locked to the other AP and I cant use it. Unmarried by COBB themselves? Would they be able to do this and allow me to get the old AP talking to this car again? So all it took for this issue is me installing the new one and telling it to forget the old one, and now the old one needs. Now when I plug the old AP in (I already un-installed the new one and put the car to stock) it gives an error message about "this accessport is not installed on the vehicle". After that call, I called the dealer and they told me the had the AP from before and I went and picked it up. They remembered the car and told me it should have came with the AP and they told me about the turbo and injectors. I called TurnInConcepts because they are who looked at this car and tuned it for this dealer to sell I was told.
needless to say it idles and runs like shit. My dumbass deleted it and put the OTS stage 1 map on the car. I installed it and it said "there is already a tune on this, delete it forever?"

Of course, I found out that was less than stock boost so I wanted to know how to get it back to normal. The car idled strong at 1000rpm and boosted to 10psi. the dealer (Cincinnati Automotive Group) did not tell me it had an AP and didnt give it to me with the car and I didnt know about the turbo or injectors either. (turbo upgrade, larger injectors, perrin FMIC, intake and turbo-back exhaust.ĪND it had and AP to go with it with the custom tune. Backstory: I bought an '05 sti that is heavily modified.
